We are pleased to announce that Lynne Nieto was unanimously elected as Chair of the ALS Therapy Development Institute (ALS TDI) Board of Directors. Lynne has been a dedicated member of the ALS TDI board since 2014, during which she served under the leadership of her late husband, Augie Nieto, who passed away from ALS in February 2023.
For the past 18 years, Lynne worked alongside Augie to end ALS. Together, they began Augie's Quest to Cure ALS, a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds and awareness for the most promising ALS research - with Augie leading the organization and Lynne serving as Secretary and Treasurer. In recognition of her tireless efforts, Lynne waselected to lead Augie's Quest in April of 2023. Prior to her tenure at Augie’s Quest, Lynne held the position of President at Classic Management, a division of her family real estate development and management firm.
Fernando Vieira, CEO of ALS TDI, said, "Lynne's commitment to our mission, understanding of the challenges of living with ALS, and her knowledge of our programs position her to lead our Board of Directors and to guide ALS TDI. I know that, like Augie, she will ensure that ALS TDI remains accountable to the community that we serve and that we will stay laser-focused on our mission to find effective treatments for everyone with ALS."
As Chair, Lynne will play a critical role in guiding ALS TDI's mission to find effective treatments and cures for ALS.
Lynne is honored to take on the role of Board Chair for ALS TDI, stating that, “I promised Augie that I will never give up his quest and that we all will collectively carry on his mission. I’m honored to take on this critical role at ALS TDI, and eager to work with the dedicated TDI board. I’ve never been more hopeful about our collective ability to end ALS forever.”
